Live Aid DVD release

It’s like they know it’s Christmas all over again: Live Aid is to be released on DVD at long last.

The right to release the 16 hour concert will be auctioned off. All proceeds will go into the Band Aid trust, still functional after almost 20 years. The Live Aid organiser took action after bootleg DVDs turned up for sale online.

In the first half of the Live Aid telecast U2 played a beautiful set in London’s Wembley Stadium. It catapulted the band into rock stratosphere, despite Bono’s firm belief his performance was a complete disaster.
