U2 reveal tour plans

U2’s manager Paul McGuinness has unveiled some of the band’s touring plans for next year. Speaking to Billboard magazine he said the band would kick off a spring arena tour of North America on March 1 in Florida. They will play approximately 35 shows.

The band will continue their tour in Europe with 30 stadium shows across Europe, then they’ll return to North America for another 35 arena shows. Good news for Aussie and Japanese fans: the tour will end in Australasia.

  3. I saw Bono in London last week for the UK Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony and was told by a close member of the U2 party that the tour will start in Miami on March 1st as reported in Billboard and will end in Sydney on December 18th.No firm decision has been made with regards to the European dates and they will probably be announced in the new year.

  5. I don’t think U2 will get to Australia by December — before then they have 100 shows to play across Europe and the US (twice).

I’m only saying this because I’ll be in China in December 2005 teaching English … so I’m hoping it’ll be early 2006. Hey, I haven’t seen U2 play live since 1993!

  7. Hate to break this Scruffy, but Elevation was 113 dates that started 23 days later and ended 16 days earlier, so they could very well fit Australasia in by the 18th…

I was hoping the closer would be closer to the beginning of December…had been toying with a trip down under to coincide with some of their dates there, but December 18th is a bit close to the holidays! Might have to re-sketch plans in my head and/or hope they have a change of heart and fit in a few Latin American dates after the New Year…

  9. I really hope that they come to Latin America. The shows in Brazil, Argentina and Chile were really awesome. Some months ago, when Bono received the Pablo Neruda Award from the Chilean ambassador in Ireland, he said that he wanted to come back soon, but the facts are not going that way. There’s been rumours about Australasia, but nothing about Latin America.

  11. What is it with starting in the US? Wouldn’t it be easier to start in the UK since thats where they’re most likely to be at that time?
