  1. Yeah – I got it too – Must say it did have some buffer problems but it was okay. “Where the Streets Have Known Names…”
The video doesn’t follow the tempo of the song as well as it could – it’s an upbeat song but a slowish video clip… Oh well – still good. Larry actually smiles at one stage (I think… coulda been a stunt double actually…)

  3. It worked fine in WinXP (latest version of WiMP installed though I rarely use it). The parallels to the WTSHNN video are definately there… but the police being there isn’t as powerful due to the fact the band is “allowed” to do it and they’re being guided/protected on a pre-planned annoucned before hand trip. So in some ways I guess it’s a 180. 🙂 The whole dramatic intro with cops in it made me scratch my head. It gave a more big production than Rock ‘n Roll feel.

I guess in that vein I can see a lot of R&H style criticism coming out of this… all the screaming fans, crowd noise, (ooh we even have helicopters following us, we’re U2!), etc seems a bit egoistic compared to WTSHNN. I guess it is “it’s all about you (the fans)” but it looks more like “oh we are so popular.” There are some genuinely touching / amusing interactions (suits in office windows, guy w/ RnR Stops the Traffic sign). The screaming crowds were there, so it’s just an accurate representation of how much people enjoyed what they were giving the fans by the rare/weird performance but at times I kind of winced watching it.

  5. It’s a football highlite! It’s a world premiere of U2’s video! Stayed up to watch the end of Sportscenter to catch the “hybrid” video. Seemed to me there were some different video clips in the SC version- Bono kissing the girl? The city looked great. Missed seeing Edge eating pizza in either one. Enjoyed it but, yah, some wincing too.

  7. I have 56K dialup internet and I thought it would provide streaming audio and video but, alas, it doesn’t! Just let me download the sucker and play it instead of STREAMING it over the internet. It’s not like television folks.

Yet, even all chopped to hell it looked and sounded great!

  9. It’s WTSHHN, except the police weren’t trying to shut them down. Personally, I think a chase through the streets of Manhattan would have made for an exciting video.

  11. It’s very recognizable as a phil joanou video. It’s great, the man is an artist! please let this man make the official concert DVD of the coming HTDAAB tour. Phil is more then welcome in Amsterdam for the opening dates of the European leg of the tour….
Is there anybody who knows already if this video is going to be on the DVD version of the single??
Come to think of it….why isn’t it available for paying members of U2.com? That would have made a nice exclusive!

  17. JP, the only thing live in it is the hysterical screaming (like in an average Michael Jackson video)

  19. just look at the end of the edge’s solo. when he starts strumming chords again. it seems like it’s just one guitar , not like the record where there is an electric guitar doing the chords and one doing the solo. maybe it’s a different version for the single:)
