Presales to the Paris, Nice, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Madrid concerts have started in Europe and presales tickets for Croke Park are, surprisingly, still available. (Which leads us to conclude Irish fans are too cool to become paying members.) In the US, presales today include Seattle, Vancouver, Phoenix and the recently announced second Denver date.
How did you fare? Some positives would be nice!

Sometimes things WORK! I was able to get my tickets in less than 5 minutes after opening…
I dont want to rub salt in any wounds, it seems that ticketmaster was able to solve some problems!

Thanks for the feedback Maassie. Did you end up booking through ticketmaster.nl?
Reports are showing trouble for the French concerts, with the website blocking any 3000+ connection. There also seems to be some confusion as to what ticket to get. Been told “pelouse” are the GA tickets, but don’t take my word for it.

I fared well, I must say. Took me 4 minutes in all to buy 4 GA tickets for Amsterdam. In that time I also had to make a Ticketmaster account. I got a confirmation email. Only thing bothering me is that the payment-confirmation page appeared in my browser, but was empty (confirmation of payment through creditcard).
So it worked fine for me. Seems they learned a lot – or Dutch fans are not that eager to become a member. I mean: we are Dutch *hehe*.

In my case I’m just confident I’ll get tickets to the Amsterdam gig(s) in the general sale simply by getting up early this coming saturday. I saved my one shot at presales for the Dublin concert.
@mrmac when your code gets bounced there’s a link to the “gateway help page”. Email them straight away with your code. They seemed to have reset mine without notice while I was still struggling to book. It suddenly worked.

@e:
Yes, I indeed booked through Ticketmaster.nl. (But I started via u2.com and after waiting a minute on the Ticketmaster “wait here and we refresh every ten seconds”-page I got through.) And just like Poptart, I had to make an Ticketmaster account first.

I directly pointed my browser to http://onsale.ticketmastereurope.com/U2/amsterdam.html and entered my code. at first i was a few minutes before 11, and i couldn’t buy any tix. i then clicked there button, but that really took a long time. so i went to the amsterdam.html directly again. no prob. seems they the cities like that organized, maybe that works better…

Yippiiiiiiiiiiiiii !!! Yes Yes Yes!
11 minutes it took me to get the confirmation e-mail from ticketservice.nl
4 GA tickets for Amsterdam. I’m so happy, I could cry. It seems to work this time. I wonder if they will be announcing the 15th and 16th today?

Just a slight update.
Amsterdam:
We got very good Amsterdam ticket sales initially (I mean, just look at the comments section), but there’s some talk going around about the payment module having broken down? Can’t verify this, or the rumour that a second concert is in the process of being added, but awaiting U2’s permission.
Paris & Nice:
Very high loads initially. Some people are getting the tickets they want, some got hopelessly delayed when they found out they needed to create an account first. Also confusion about seating charts and what price tickets are where.
Copenhagen:
People were placed in a queue and received a queue number, but have been suffering from losing their place in line when it wouldn’t accept payment details. Supposedly, the system has been down and people are suffering from system errors. Sounds very messy, but apparently there’s still tickets available. They can be contacted through mailing to u2@e-billetter.dk
Madrid:
The few reports we read about the Madrid presale suggest this was by far the most smooth running ticketing experience so far.

Marie from Sweden says it’s harder for people outside of Sweden to get through to the website:
“Residents from outside Sweden may have bigger problmes than usual booking tickets online. According to Ticnet it is much safer to try and call them or GotEvent to purchase tickets.”

I hope they will send those whose payment did not go well an email to confirm (once again) the fact they bought the tickets. I would not be surprised. Payment (through cc) went well, untill the last page – the confirmation page did actually appear in my browser (according to the url in the address bar) but the page was completely empty. But I got my confirmation email – 4 GA tickets for Amsterdam.

I bought 4 GA tickets this morning for Paris.
The local website in charge (ticketnet.fr) “crashed” a few times (no response, document contains no data) but after a 15 minutes struggle (I had to create an account) I eventually got a magical “Vous avez réservé 4 places Catégorie 3 pelouse”. (And yes, “Pelouse” is GA, it means “lawn”).

This is so frustrating.. I’ve been sitting here for the last 3 hrs trying to get tickets.
I was able to get into ticketmaster quickly. I WAS able to order 4 GA tickets for Amsterdam. I was not able to fulfill my order since the payment site was completely offline. After several retries my code has now expired, can’t get on ticketmaster anymore.
Have e-mailed, called everyone I can think of (ticketmaster europe, ticketservice nl, u2.com, the payment site people) but nothing so far..
to think.. I had those tickets in tha palm of my hands… it makes me mad!!
Oh well.. keeping my hopes up

A Copenhagen update. After having problems earlier today, it now seems to work fine. They are resetting pepoles codes on the fly, and then it is no problem to buy tickets (at least not for me). It also seems that they now have improved “error handling” by adding a link to an error posting form, if something goes wrong with your code.

I think maybe TM got everything on track, but ING/TWYP has not… Hope you get your tickets one way or the other!

A’dam ticks in the pocket!!!
Compared to the Brussels problems: this was a three minute deal!
Confirmation page did take a while to load, but it came eventually (I think after a refresh, but lessons learned: watch out refreshing…)
It pays to create a direct pointer (like Poptart did) And keep track of all the URL’s you encounter on the way to confirmation…
Thumbs up ticketmaster.nl and U2.com!

No problems here. Went straight from U2.com to Ticketmaster.nl, made my ticket selection in about 10 seconds flat, confirmed everything and got 4 tickets to adjacent seats in section 120, row 2 in less than a minute!
Received the confirmation e-mail at 11:01.
Wow! 🙂

I wouldn’t be surprised if there weren’t a lot of Dutch U2.com members either – I mean, most of the Dutch fans would already be paying for their Dutch fanclub memberships. (Dutch fanclub has on previous tours been able to supply their members with tickets through a deal with the promoters, Mojo Concerts. Not sure yet what’s going to happen this time.)

My experience was great. Any inconvenience was caused by my misreading the pre-sale dates. I thought the presale started on Jan. 31 for New York, when it actually started on the 26th. So, when I was just checking the dates on the 27th, I found out my mistake! All the tickets were gone for NYC much to my disappointment and the only tickets for New Jersey and Philadelphia were ridiculously expensive. But, I was able to buy two tickets for Boston. There were the fourth level row 12 and behind the stage and were less than $50 a pop. I was a little bummed thinking that I’d only see the back of Bono’s head until a friend told me they heard the stage was round and rotates. So, if the rumor is true,I have soem pretty great seats! So, I am pleased and super excited! I can’t wait till the 26th of May!

Within minutes I got my GA tickets for Amsterdam this morning. No problems at all. And just before 11am I already logged into ticketmaster.nl so no need to enter my details again :).

I just got my 2 Phoenix tickets. I was hoping to be front row again with some GAs, but that didn’t happen (suprise, suprise). Where do I go again to see if I can swap tickets?

Tried to purchase Seattle tickets. I signed directly onto Ticketmaster. Started refreshing at 9:58. Got right at 10:00. Punched in my code and info in five seconds. Two minute wait in queue. All GA tickets were sold out. Couldn’t get back into the queue to get any other tickets. Ticketmaster is giving the same errors as the first presale.

Hi Everyone…first time on…this is GREAT. Obsessed U2 fan here in NYC, and I must say, I fared quite well with the pre-sale. No problems at all. I used my CODE to book GA tickets in London, and then I stright up bough GA tickets to NJ and first level tickets in Boston. No problems what so ever…I was logged on to ticketmaster, kept hitting refresh, and BOOM. I am actually holding 4 tickets to Boston, and will sell two of them (face value, for true fans).

Don’t give up too early! 22 minutes into the pre-sale, Peter (aka Crayon) scored a pair of GAs for Seattle — this after we had both received a bunch of different errors including not even being able to view the ticket selection page, internal server errors and the dreaded no tickets available.
While still not perfect, I did hit the queue a lot more often than last week!

I got GA tickets in Seattle. I do live in NY, but it’s worth it.
NYC Fan-I’ll buy a pair from you in Boston. Which Date? Definitely want to go to one more.

Warren you wouldn’t be able to part with those Seattle tickets would you? I tried to get through but the system crashed processing my credit card and my code got used up. Now I don’t have any tickets.
I miss the old propaganda mail based system. So much more civil.

Hello Warren…sure..I have not decided 100% to sell them, but since you are the first, you are first on the list. I actually do not remmber the details about location (they are at home), but I can let you know. They are for the first show…I belive it is a Tuesday. I’ll def. give you face value though…

Two questions – anyone have any pretty good rumors about the stage set-up? And they can’t possibly play only one show at Madison Square Garden…can they?

If anyone got lower level seats in the center for the seattle show that may want to trade for a pair of GA’s please drop me a line at mrondaynite420@hotmail.com.
(of course the difference in cost would be covered)

Got into the pre-sale for Phoenix @ 10:00am using the same code in 2 different browser windows. By 10:02, I was notified that there were no GA tickets available to match my request. Kept trying, even gave up several best available tries that would have given me either nosebleeds or high $$ seats. Finally, by 10:10, I got through to floor seats and purchased them without a problem!!
I feel for everyone who got burned last week, but I can honestly say that my experience was slightly shy of bliss, even though my blood was starting to boil by about 10:03am. Fortunately, I stuck with it and found what I was looking for.

Follow-up to my earlier email.
I continued to try to get the Seattle tickets. About 10:20, I thought I got GA tickets. I don’t know what happened but I asked for GA on the form, it said GA at the end of the queue but when I got the ticket confirmation it says section 210. The seats are on the complete opposite end of the arena at the very top. Why is U2 selling the worst tickets in the arena to their fans? Ticketmaster will not help me so I am working with my credit card company to get the charges reversed. Complete nightmare and I am now stuck with my U2 membership because I used my password. Forty bucks for a seishi@u2.com email address.

I know how you feel Seishi. I got rubbish seats for the dublin presale. I dont think its possible to get farther away from the stage. Right at the top, opposite the stage. I couldnt get any GA. I think the only reason seats are STILL available for dublin (and some other presales) is because the seats on offer are soooo lousy

I didn’t get in on the presales at all for the Anaheim, CA shows. I logged in to ticketmaster and kept hitting “refresh”. I asked for 2 tickets to the April 1 show. I got them, sec 428, row H..I guess “H” is short for HIGH. It’s also to the left rear corner of the stage, I saw the show for April 2nd and took a shot.
I got in right away, and my approximate wait time was less than 3 minutes..it then increased to 12, then to 15…what the heck? I was patient, even when it seemed my computer locked up. The system kicked out 2 tickets in sec 413, row c. Still high, but I have a full view and close to the stage. Was surprised that even these seats were $165.00, but I grabbed them anyway. I’ve been a fan since the beginning, but I’ve never seen U2 in concert before, and am really excited about this.
It pisses me off to no end that somebody from Wisconsin has 8 awesome seats listed on Ebay. I feel that there should be a lower ticket limit, at least to those outside, say, 500 miles of an event. Don’t support the scalpers..this goes for any band. If they get stuck with the tickets the market goes dry, tickets are sold, but there are fewer fans to by drinks, $40 T-Shirts, and everything else…somebody will have to take some action.

@mrmarc: how strange.. I also tried to order 4 GA tickets for Amsterdam and crashed three times when the payment site went blank. But my code wasn’t blocked after that, so the 4th time it worked.
After all, it wasn’t a 5-minute job for me, but I don’t care: after 45 minutes I got them!!

Booking for Dublin Croke Park was a nightmare… after an hour of trying, finally got ticketmaster.ie to give me four tix, but they were seats across from stage, could you GET any further away??? Happy to finally get through, the site wouldn’t give me a seatplan so I just went for them – now my code no longer works, I have four tix that aren’t great, and according to ticketmaster.ie I can’t try for better tix when they go onsale to general public because there is a limit to the number of tix you can buy IN TOTAL!! Very very unhappy… at least we’ll get into the park, but we’re not pleased. Then to add insult to injury, find out that they added another date WHILE I WAS BOOKING!!!!! ARGHHHH I would have gone for the second date! Furious.
