Dutch AT5 teletext reports that Dutch Christian Democrat party (CDA)member Joop Atsma has asked the Minister of Economic Affairs and the Minister of Justice and the State Secretary of Culture to investigate the exorbitant (broker-) prices of tickets to the July 13 U2 show in Amsterdam.
According to Mr Atsma, there is rampant black market activity in the run up to major concerts. In 2000, he and Mr Paul Rosenmöller (Groen Links / Green Left party) introduced a bill against black market ticket sales, but it did not pass.
The CDA maintains that black market sales interfere with the public’s ability to attend concerts. They want to make black market sales illegal.
