  12. funny. i was just thinking the same thing. i´ve been having that song in my head for weeks now, having it pop up here and there over and over again, it´s such a great chorus.

    cool, if they rework it for the next album, maybe not though. i think the boys should show the guts to release it as a mega b-side, probably to the next single after all…..

  14. Yeah, I really dont get this band lately. Remember the glory years back in the day when they recorded a tonne of other tracks during album sessions and actually released them as b-sides? ahhhhhhhhhh.

    I guess maybe these guys just work the minimum amount until they are satisfied with an album and then call it a day. Oh well.

    And, uhm, and 3″ pocket CD? Not very Mac friendly anymore are we? So exactly what did Gates whisper in Bono’s ear before bedtime? =)

    Right…. I think it’s clear that they worked themselves into the ground and beyond on this last album. Whatever your personal view of it may be, they clearly killed themselves making it.

    My question in response to this announcement about the latest single is: What happened to the story about how there would be a special commemorative single, with some great surprise? Did I imagine that? Any links to that story?
    Any brain cells that remember that? (Mine are fading fast!)

    Right…. I think it’s clear that they worked themselves into the ground and beyond on this last album. Whatever your personal view of it may be, they clearly killed themselves making it.

    My question in response to this announcement about the latest single is: What happened to the story about how there would be a special commemorative single, with some great surprise? Did I imagine that? Any links to that story?
    Any brain cells that remember that? (Mine are fading fast!)

I agree with watts4u2, some of the original b-sides from HTDAAB went onto the digital box set such as ‘Smile’, ‘Native Son’, and ‘Xanax & Wine’, and they’ve already given us ‘Are You Gonna Wait Forever?’, and a cover of ‘Neon Lights’. I’m just glad that they slipped ‘Fast Cars’ onto the EU version and that someone leaked ‘Mercy’. That’s 7 extra songs from HTDAAB already (if you count Native Son & Xanax & Wine -even though their early versions of other songs). Not bad for an album that hopefully has 2 or 3 more singles left.

    It states: “The Island rep in charge of the preview revealed U2’s next single will be released in February and a third single commemorating the 25th anniversary of the band’s first single will be released on May 16. (We were warned not to guess what the b-side will be.)”

    Personally, I think they can do a lot better on the B-sides. The Killahurtz Fly Mix? Oh please……..
