Chicago is the Party, Girl

U2 pulled out another oldie out of their musical hats on the eve of Bono’s birthday, at their second concert in Chicago last night (9/5), playing their song ‘Party Girl’, with a girl from the audience on guitar. We’re told Keanu Reeves was in attendance and crew member Rocco came out before the gig to announce the show was definately going to be filmed.

  1. Wouldn’t it be great if it were tonight’s (May 10th, I mean) show that finally makes it to the DVD? Bono’s Birthday Party on DVD! They could make it really special.
I still remember Edge singing Party Girl to Bono on May 10th, 1993 in the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam.

  3. The snippet in Electric Co. was Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet with Butterfly Wings”

Other cool part was when Bono brought a little girl to walk with him once around the ellipse during Into the Heart.

  5. Little girls at a rock concert? As a life-long U2 fan it pains me to say this but they have gone WAY downhill.

  7. Not only little girls, little boys, too. In last night’s (May 10) show, Bono brought out a little boy during “Into the Heart.” When asked for his name, the boy timidly replied, “Gareth.” Bono’s reply was quiet, beautiful, and priceless: “My name is Paul, but most people call me Bono.”

Hopefully, the DVD will be an amalgation of May 9 and May 10. The band was especially tight tonight. They played “Party Girl” again tonight, and it was coherent and *good* (although 99% of the audience had no idea what it was).
