U2 pulled out all stops and tagged on a brief version of Bowie’s classic Jean Genie to The Fly for their New York audience last night. We can safely assume the song’s author was at the show.
Thanks to U2portugal for providing us with a clip of this performance:

Hey, that’s a song performance! I was expecting a snippet.
I wonder if Bowie braved the ellipse (a la Chris Martin in Chicago) or enjoyed the safety from the masses at the VIP stage in front of the mix desk.

Bowie often goes to local shows, big or small. He went to see Arcade Fire and was just in the audience, like everybody else. I think that’s pretty cool, really, but then David is a really cool guy :-] (not that I’m prejudiced or anything)

Bowie is the man. U2 did a good job of covering the song. Jean Genie is a tight song.

I was so psyched to be in the “bomb shelter”, Saturday (5/21) at MSG.
Didn’t see Bowie there, but saw P.Diddy and Nicole Kidman chatting in the lower seats. Michael Imperioli was rocking out as well.
