The belly dancer makes a return in Toronto as does Daniel Lanois’ joining in on ‘Bad’ – not sure what the connection is there. The ‘new’ songs (Fast Cars, In a Little While) that were played at the first Toronto concert are dropped and it looks like a return to the standard Vertigo setlist.
Will U2 be in an experimental mood for the 3rd concert – or wait until the 4th show to relax and let loose?

Ah, the Canadian winter will set in soon. All the girls will be covered in parkas and toques and you won’t be able to see their faces.. let alone their bellies. 🙂

Show 2 in Toronto wasn’t as special as Show 1 — other than Daniel Lanois taking the stage during “Bad.” I got the feeling that the band had an engagement after the show. They rushed through everything.
There were many technical errors — wrong lights and ill-timed playbacks. The bellydance during “Bad” was sort of awkward — not because of the girl, but because of the song. Even Bono said, “This isn’t the right song for this.” They should have played “Mysterious Ways” for her and the rest of us.
Worth noting…
During “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” Bono almost fell off the stage, wearing the COEXIST blindfold. One of the security personnel jumped on stage and lead him back to his microphone. Bono seemed disoriented by the experience. For about a minute, he did a scat-like whisper into the microphone before collecting himself and continuing on with the song.
Neither I nor my tour mate remember hearing “Dirty Old Town” as a snippet during “Sometimes” as it’s been reported. We did, however, hear “Black Hills of Dakota.”
Bono told a story during the the intro to “Miracle Drug.” Here’s a transcription:
“Edge is from the future. Not on earth — but actually he’s from a completely different planet. The future. Myself, Adam, and Larry were in school on the northside of Dublin. We saw his spaceship coming. And it made this sound [Bono points to Edge’s playing guitar]. That was the sound he was making even back then. The spaceship landed and The Edge got out. And we asked, ‘Where are you from?’ and he said, ‘I’m from the future.’ And Larry said, ‘What’s it like there?’ And he said, ‘It’s better.’ This is ‘Miracle Drug.'”
Bono, introducing “Miss Sarajevo”: “If there’s any one thing our band stands for — and I’m not sure if there’s any one thing — it’s got to be the idea that people are more valuable than ideas. That equality is something that you have to fight for every day. Whether it’s Mozambique, New Orleans, Toronto, or Sarajevo, where we wrote this tune.”
“Yahweh” was performed at the tip of the ellipse, like how they did it on the first leg.
Bono sang a snippet of Daniel Lanois’ “The Maker” at the end of “Bad.”

Cindy… that story about The Edge’s origins was a u2.com exclusive! I’m not sure you’re allowed to post it here!! Even though variations on it have been told before.
Kind of like how Toronto 1 was the first time that the FLY and Zoo Station were played for the first time in N.A. in 2005. Erm… or maybe not. Oh well.
Are they still playing “Still Water” after the show?

Carl, I don’t read U2.com. I transcribed the dialog from video taken by U2wanderer.org. 😛
Aaron says, “Yes, they are still playing ‘Still Water’ after the show.”

Hehe, cool. I loved how they have as an exclusive something that anyone was at the show could report. Good to know he’s still taking video. If he cut night 3’s fast cars halfway again cause he was running low on space give him a smack for me okay. 🙂

Umm, Carl, he had to delete the video of “Fast Cars” on night 3 to make room for other pics. I’ll go ahead and give him that smack for you.
