  1. South Australian Fans – I would be a bit concerned with the Adelaide date. The last time U2 came to Adelaide was for the Zoo TV tour. According to the U2 Concert book – they nearly cancelled due to low sales. They had 25,000 for the gig.
According to our local paper, they expect 20,000 for the vertigo tour. No offense, but I can’t see them getting 20,000 they (and most bands in general) don’t seem to get the attendance they once did. I am nearly tempted to just buy tickets for Melbourne in case they do end up cancelling Adelaide.

    What does anyone else think?

  3. Geez, two weeks’ notice, and one week’s notice for ticket details? I was hoping for a bit more time. I’m bitter that tickets go on sale the day before my next payday. The payday between now and then I have to pay rent and bills. *sigh*

At least tickets aren’t expensive. $99 is a bargain, all things considered.

I also hope U2 know that the Telstra Dome in Melbourne is LOUD. =)

  5. The rumor is a second Sydney show will be announced when/if the first Sydney show sells out. I don’t know the likelihood of that rumor being true or not, but it’s something to consider when planning for shows.

  7. There’ll be a second Melbourne show, without a doubt. Telstra Stadium holds 52’000 seated + 20’000 on the floor = 72’000+. U2 will need two shows in Melbourne to break even and not record a loss for touring here (which they did with Popmart).

  9. Michael, that was ’93 .. 16 years later I dont think it would be incorrect to say U2’s fan base in Australia has steadily increased. As we all know, this is a band that continues to bring in new fans, while keeping the fans who jumped on at earlier stages in their career. I honestly dont think U2 will have any trouble at all selling out all the shows they put on sale here.

And $99 floor tickets! what a bargain!…The only thing left for them to do is go on Rove Live (aussie tv show for all you ppl who dont know.. kinda like ‘the tonight show’) while they’re out here and put every other act that has been on to complete shame 😛 😀 hehe

  11. this is the first time in three tours U2 aren’t playing the sydney football stadium (where the zoo tv video was shot). telstra stadium is absolutely HUGE – it was built for the olympic games. it will be interesting to see if they sell out two nights in sydney. either way, BRING IT!

  13. I was at Football Park (AAMI) for Zoo TV and Dublin Show Grounds the same year. 25,000 must have been a tax figure because the floor area was packed as was the main stand and felt as packed as Dublin.

Plus, we missed out on Popmart so there is a void we need to fill!

There was no mention of priority tickets for U2.COM members. Is this the case?????

  15. Every man and his dog will be at the adelaide gig – I’ll personally make sure of it! I know a lot of people who aren’t particularly U2 fans that will be going because they know they will see the greatest gig on earth.

  17. I have been waiting for this since I was twelve, and I am now fifteen. I live in Perth and am going to see them In SA. I want the closest seat to them as possible. I am so excited. U2 are the greatest band that have ever made a song. Yeah, yeah they are great

  19. I feel given the circumstances that U2 should increase their shows in Australia given That its been 7 years since they were last here .

I pity the U2 fansd in Perth.

But I feel the Ticket prices are extremely reasonable considering the shows the put on and how much it costs to put a show on in Australia.

You however need more shows added, do you really think that U2 fans are going to go to just one show?

Unfortunately, some artists do not realise how loyal australian fans are( don’t underestimate our loyalty).
Australian fans are always extra grateful if extra shows are put on . to Us, It Shows That The Band Appreciates Our Support!

Dont keep us “STUCK IN A MOMENT & WE CAN’T GET OUT OF IT”
