Bonos Aires, part 2

Tickets for the second Vertigo concert in Buenos Aires on March 2nd will go on sale tonight at midnight through www.ticketek.com.ar. The only credit card allowed to purchase tickets is a VISA, as this is the main sponsor of the tour in Argentina. The other sponsors are Coca-Cola and Movistar.

Franz Ferdinand will open for the band at both shows.

It is rumoured that local TV channel Telefe will broadcast the second show for the Argentinean audience.

  1. “The only credit card allowed to purchase tickets is a VISA, as this is the main sponsor of the tour in Argentina. The other sponsors are Coca-Cola and Movistar.”
    Is this really true?
Ticketek.com.ar website can’t be reached and there’s nothing about this on U2.com.

  3. Yes, it’s true. The ticket sale it’s a nightmare… anyway I buy my ticket this morning on ticketek… but the site and the telephone lines are collapsed.

  5. Coca-Cola?

With all the labour and human rights abuses allegations involving Coca-Cola in Latin America, you’d think that U2 would go out of their way to avoid them . . .

  7. It’s a shame the price of the tickets (a regular monthly incoming in Argentina is around USD 300, USD400, and the ticket cost USD50 for the field) and the obligation to pay to Ticketshit 10% of the ticket for the pathetic service. Only one or two people to sell the tickets in every store witch means at least two hours waiting in a row.
In their contracts U2 should add some points to give more respect for their audience, such as not admit abusive prices and first world comissions for Ticketshit and their pathetic service.

  9. “witch means at least two hours waiting in a row.”

For the last 20 years we’ve had to queue up overnight to get U2 tickets here in Europe. Two hours? Don’t make me laugh.

  11. 2 hours you waited in a row but you got your ticket … I spent 3 hours on the net trying over and over again to get into the website to buy it and I think I won the lottery because that was pretty fast and I had no problems. I know one girl who has been trying since yesterday and still no luck and she can’t go to the points of sale because she lives outside of the country.
And the price is fine, I thought they were going to be more expensive!!!

  13. I agree with 3rd World, Ticketek charges you with ARS 15 (5 US Dollars) to buy a GA ticket, and their service really sucks. They’ve CLOSED some points-of-sale the last 22nd, the day when March 1st. show went on sale!!! They CLOSE some sites the day with MORE demand!!! And they charge you with shipping fees EVEN IF YOU PICK UP THE TICKETS IN THEIR POINT-OF-SALES when you buy them online!!!!!!!!!!!! And in some places I’ve read the argentine tickets are cheaper, but it’s not true, GA tickets cost 150 ARS, that’s 50 US Dollars…

  17. is there any confirmation that coca cola is actually a tour sponsor? this would seriously disappoint me.

  19. I don’t agree with any of you. Either pay or don’t. Welcome to free-enterprise. The purest way to sell tickets would be to ebay them all. If that was the way it was done, and the fact that U2 can sell out a concert, the demand would outweigh the supply and competition for this relatively short supply would guarantee that the minimum ebay price would be above prices paid now. So feel lucky they aren’t completely capitalistic about it because given the demand, I think they could get more than they already do.

And if a venue like River Plate is so large and/or the price so high that they don’t sellout, you should embrace free enterprise all the more as supply would outweigh demand and prices would then fall until all the tickets sold.

This concludes your non-communist lesson in the way the world, outside of univiersities and WTO protest rallies, actually works.

  21. Have fun guys! It’ll all be worth it in the end. Franz Ferdinand are a top quality support act too.
