“Shake your body, Bono!”

U2 attended the Carnival of Salvador in Brazil on Thursday (23/2), where they enjoyed musical performances by local artists from the comfort of a balcony that overlooked the festivities. In honor of the band’s attendance at the carnival, Brazilian pop star Ivete Sangalo performed “Vertigo,” during which she urged Bono to shake his body. Bono joined her vocally midway through the song. Both Bono and Edge contributed vocally to another artist’s performance of Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry.”

  7. I was able to track down the name of the artist who performed “Vertigo.” She is, indeed, a woman. I revised the story to include her name and a link to her official site.

    Não me lembro da última vez em que assisti ao video Rattle and Hum. Mas até então, o U2 tinha ficado ali. Claro que nunca deixei de escutar as músicas glorificadas (ou não) pela mídia musical. Mas o que tinha realmente ficado em minha memória foi aquela década de 80, na qual elevou o U2 a magnitude. Mas com esta passagem do U2 pelo Brasil, reanimou aquela euforia, paixão, fervor e inquietude de ver e escutar uma das maiores bandas de rock já existente e em atividade. U2 está para mim, entre o rol daquelas bandas (Pink Floyd, Mettalica, Marillion, Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) que me surpreende e faz elevar a minha idolatria pelo rock. Esses caras são simplesmente sensacionais, tanto pelo que eles nos proporcionam a ouvir, quanto pela sensibilidade humanitária que envolve (graças a Deus) todo o grupo. Que eles permaneçam vivos na memória e em nossos corações por quanto durar a eternidade.

    Gilberto gil and our president are lying about something , and I hope that bono realize about it next time that he will lunch with our presidente and gil.
    I love U2, I love Bono, but they are meeting the worng people in Brasil.
    There are more people that agree with U2 causes!!

    I’m from Brazil and watched on TV the performance of Bono at Carnaval in Salvador, it was great! It was one of the amazing thing I’ve watched ever! He is really kind and it was so magnificent his efforts trying to speak our language.
    The name of the brasilian singer is Ivete Sangalo, she is from Salvador(Brasil) and she is one of the singers here that sells more CDs (for instance, she is great).
    And yes, it’s true, Bono sang the chorus of the song (chupa toda!) what was very funny (I don’t know if he knows the meaning…).
    I was at both 2 shows here in São Paulo and it was great, specially the second that wasn’t presented on TV. I’ll never forget that sperience!
