8 weeks of Vertigo

Hurry up, U2.com. Announce those tour dates because a believable birdy told us the resumed fourth leg of the Vertigo Tour will last 8 weeks and wrap up by mid-December.

  1. What was that nursery rhyme… ‘Can you keep a secret? I don’t suppose you can…’

Some people’s impatience is astounding 😛 Kudos to the people that run this site for continually biting their collective tongue when it must be so tempting to do otherwise…

Anticipation is building down here in Oz, however I do hope that U2 fans in South Africa score a show out of this re-scheduling.. With such a heavy emphasis on Africa, it seems disappointing there hasn’t been a U2 concert on the continent since 1998 (bono and edge doesn’t count :P)

  3. I guess I see it like this: It’s their “baby” and they want to make the announcement. I can respect that. On the other hand, I recognize that fans need as much advance notice as possible about the dates. People will save their vacation days from work and use them for the tour if they know when the shows are going to happen. Also, with the gas/oil crisis, travel has become much more expensive. People need to make financial plans too.

Do you know how much an airplane ticket to Honolulu in December costs right now?

We at U2log.com don’t care about “being first” with anything; we care about helping and informing the fans.

  5. The last 10 shows of the 4th leg were spread out over 3 weeks. This would mean 5 weeks of new shows or the previous 10 would be spread out over a longer period of time due to already scheduled events or other logistical issues. My guess is that shows will be added…the question is where. Keeping costs in mind I would guess the Pacific side of things. I doubt U2 would do anymore indoor shows considering this tour extension is all about the outdoor show. Considering the time of year that would mean for this show to come to the United States it would have to be in a warm weather climate. So my prediction? Outdoor Vertigo could come to Los Angeles/Southern California; Phoenix, Arizona; and/or Las Vegas. It’s possible but more unlikely that other warm climates would be included but New Orleans is an interesting idea considering the Edge’s ties to the city now. I would be very surprised to see shows in Florida and/or Georgia. Anyway, time will tell!

  7. As a New Orleans resident who is home after the flood, let me tell you that a U2 show would be a much-needed rewards for the city. They don’t have to reduce ticket prices or anything – we’re fully capable of selling out the Arena and we just need something to do. We’ve already sold out 63,000 Saints season tickets and every other concert that is held here (not many of them) sells out quickly.

I don’t understand why so many progressive bands aren’t playing New Orleans – you’d think they’d want to flock here to let us know they still love us.

  9. With the danger of sounding nitpicky… on the 10th of July U2.com got everybody all excited by saying “Tour dates within the NEXT week!” on their front page.

It is now July 19 and not a peep out of them. It kind of makes you wonder what’s going on… You can’t really blame people holding fully paid tickets getting impatient, even on U2’s own website forum. It’s a real shame for all parties involved. Hopefully something will be announced soon so everybody can start making travel arrangements.

  11. I wholeheartedly agree E – while I completely respect the family’s need for time, but they said an announcement was coming so let’s have it!

  13. U2.com making promises that they don’t keep? I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell you!
