does this remind anyone of the Dani California Music video, at least in concept? it’s still an awesome music video and one of U2’s best, and one hell of a catchy song. I see Keith Moon in there too!

Elmo-yes this clip is inspiring and emotional. I got chills up and down my spine, a big smile on my face and tears in my eyes! And from what I’ve read from other fans we are not alone. I’ve only listened to “Window” on the radio twice with poor reception but to watch this clip and hear the song properly for the first time just blew me away. Great being a U2 fan, huh?! π

Cool video, but it strikes me as something Rick Rubin would’ve dreamed up. Nostalgia freak. That man lives in the past.

Great video. I wonder if Bono got the idea for it after participating in a similar one for the Johnny Cash song God’s Gonna Cut You Down?

This song is such an earwurm. It just feels good to holler ‘I’ve got no shaaaaaaaaame’ when you’re walking down the street. People look at you funny, though. But then they always do…
Anyhoo, cool clip and FINALLY a break away from those stupid performance promos.

love love love love love this video, but my only gripe is no one from the early 90s britpop era is recognized! you’d think a quick liam or noel clip would have sufficed, hell there isn’t even springsteen (uh oh, it’s like the best of’s, everyone is annoyed by what’s left off!) π

Wow. I was a so-so fan of the original song, but that video just puts the song through the roof for me. Just phenomenal. I love the band in the audience at the end – just a perfect touch. I forwarded the post to everyone I know, too. Had to spread some of the “Love.”

i got a question kids: the mp3 doing the rounds has this weird cross over at the beginning which sounds like two tracks played at once. we don’t hear this on the video, natch. so, what’s the deal? is that cross over thing on the record? IT SOUNDS HORRIBLE. WTF? HELP KTHXBYE.

Indeed – the kissing shots are from outside the Corner Hotel in Melbourne, the band in the crowd shots were taken inside the band room at the Corner Hotel, and the crowd running shots were taken nearby in Richmond.
That was a loooong day filming for very little actual useful footage.

elmo,
that mp3 was the first to go around I guess, the other tune in the beginning is a radiohead song, some people suggested that, though I do not recognize the song.
shortly after that another mp3 with the single version (the same version) of the song made the round. it’s the cleanest version that was available before the album was released, and it’s a different mix from the album version. the video version again has that little extra beginning, I wonder if it will be included in the released version on the single or not.
for the video, I after all have to agree, that it is a refreshing change indeed, away from performance videos, although I normaly dig those. it takes the song yet to another place… great!

The first mp3 to go around about a month ago was recorded from radio, and had a really long cross over from the previous song which is fake plastic trees by radiohead. that’s why it sounds so weird.

song is not doing so well on American radio, we’ll see if this video along with the commercial release of the single pushes it back up. It may have already peaked, but here is the update:
Obviously…Number 1 in Triple A ( which they always do ) and number 28 on Hot Adult Contemporary.

love the George Harrison shot that matches perfectly with Edge’s “new” “Abbey Road” sound during “I got no shame”…it does make you wonder if McCartney made any recommendations??
Very cool indeed

Great video. I wonder if Bono got the idea for it after participating in a similar one for the Johnny Cash song God’s Gonna Cut You Down?

This song is such an earwurm. It just feels good to holler ‘I’ve got no shaaaaaaaaame’ when you’re walking down the street. People look at you funny, though. But then they always do…
Anyhoo, cool clip and FINALLY a break away from those stupid performance promos.

The classical pianist could be Vladimir Horowitz.

The double bass player is Charles Mingus; the classical pianist is Horovitz, indeed.

Powerful visual! Even stronger that it was done as a tribute to others.

love love love love love this video, but my only gripe is no one from the early 90s britpop era is recognized! you’d think a quick liam or noel clip would have sufficed, hell there isn’t even springsteen (uh oh, it’s like the best of’s, everyone is annoyed by what’s left off!) π

i think the fun way to look at it is, it’s the bands best of!
As fans we are made well aware of their “influencers”

I thought the filming they did in Melbourne in late November 06 was for Windows? Can anyone shed some light?

Maybe the filming in Melbourne are the shots of the band members in the audience…?

the crowd shots with the band are from the corner hotel, melbourne.

The filming they did in Melbourne are the shots of Edge, Bono, Adam and Larry in the crowd. How long’s it been since they’ve been able to be part of the audience like that? π

I think the hands on the keyboard right after the opening shot of Zappa might be George Duke.
