A tabloid in Australia, the Herald-Sun, has done a hatchet piece on the BBC’s interview with U2, in which Bono jokingly calls Coldplay’s Chris Martin a “cretin”. The Herald-Sun has edited and misquoted Bono, mading it out like it’s a serious personal attack. Read it here. Now the H-S is known for its tabloid churnalism and no one takes it seriously, but this is blatantly dishonest and dirty. I doubt they’ll retract the story (and they haven’t posted my comments referring to the original interview either, funny that).
