  3. I’m not the only one who thinks the stage is gaudy. This from Matt McGee, editor of @U2.com …

I kinda feel like this just has to be said: The Claw looks cool and all, but … I dunno … it looks more Judas Priest to me than U2. Y’know? Don’t get me wrong; I’m all geeked for the shows. I’m just starting to wonder about the stage a bit.

  5. wow, Jay – congratulations. You found another person who thinks this stage is gaudy. How hard was that? I too think it’s gaudy at this point, but I’m not silly to judge something that is incomplete and yet to be used to its full effect. I’m certain gaudy is the point anyways – since when did U2 not take things as far as they could possibly go? why does a u2 fan ( er, expert ) like yourself seem so surprised?
I’m sure it will blow all our minds once its in use. All we’ve seen so far is the skeleton of the stage. I’m sure that had we seen the stages slowly getting built for the previos tours – we might have said the same thing. My point is, let’s not judge it before it is used. It’s just silly. For me personally, it is of great excitement to see it all come together. I venture to think you won’t be complaining about it once the tour starts. It sounds an awful lot like people are looking for anything to criticize the band about. Furthermore, why can’t we just be grateful that our fave band is still putting forth such effort after all these years. Can’t wait!

  7. As I recall – the outside broadcast for ZOO TV was also a bit garish – gigantic and what? U2? Can this be possible!!! This isn’t Joshua Tree – god forbid… remarks ! But we all know the result of that FABULOUS SHOW! I believe you can count on U2 to deliver. I can’t wait for the full effect – stage – music and U2!

  9. The only thing I really, truly care about on this tour is Willie turning on the lights in the ‘Streets’ intro … that’s it. Not having those lights pop on on the last tour was beyond weak. How can you not have the floodlights pop on for ‘Streets’? I mean, seriously. That’s it for me; the greatest 6 minutes of your life. Hands down. The lights must pop on, or else the tour will be a downer for me. I barely listen to Vertigo boots because I was so disappointed with ‘Streets”. Enough with the ‘expert’ stuff, by the way. You’re going to make me angry. And you don’t want to make me angry.

    LOL! are you kidding me?
BTW what is Vertigo boots? did I miss something?
Ya, the whole entire tour would be a flop if they didn’t do the lights properly during Streets. Disregard everything else altogether… REALLY?! WTF?
