Pride, cause you haven’t heard it in a while

A pre-recorded rehearsal version of Pride playing over and over again, recorded from outside the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona on June 16th, between 3pm and 3:45pm.

  1. Here’s my ‘prediction’ for the theme of this tour. I reckon B’s not going to preach about Africa too much, he’s just going to imply. He’s probably going to focus on change and hope and American’s new president, hence MLK and Pride, perhaps a Marley cover?

  3. I agree Caroline. I think the theme of this tour will be about hope and change – more of an ‘optimistic’ theme than the Vertigo tour which was quite heavy in places.

  5. nice-looking setlist … for some reason i’ve had a feeling that “Unforgettable Fire” was gonna make a comeback on this tour …

as for “Drowning Man” … if any song off “War” album were to make an appearance, I was hoping for “Surrender”. I was listening to 1983 War tour recording the other day and thought “this could make sense for the new tour”.

also very excited about “Ultraviolet” … I love to play that song on my bass.

    excited. excited. excited.

  7. I’m excited about the obscure/old songs!

And… About the “theme”: I don’t wanna start a political argument here, but I hope that U2 don’t turn the concerts into an Obama-admiring session. “MLK” and “Pride” are supposed to be about Dr. King, not Obama. Plus, it would alientate those who don’t support Obama or who don’t want to hear about politicians at a rock concert. But that’s just my two cents and I know how hard it is for U2 to NOT talk about politics.

  11. Here we go, the setlist bitch-fest begins, it’s already in full swing in a dozen U2 forums. “Ugh, not Pride again, I heard it 237 times last tour when I went to every show in the first North America leg and every second show in Europe…” Seriously guys, not everyone gets to see every concert on two continents each tour. The majority of us punters only get to be at one or two concerts a tour. I’ve personally never heard Pride live at a gig at all. So pull your heads in.

  13. @Jedi – you’re right. We shouldn’t complain. It’s not that I have seen them perform pride all that often, but it’s one of those tunes that makes them sound old – most especially on the last tour. having said that, I still should shush it and let them do what they wish. I understand it may be called for to play Pride – because of whatever theme they are after. It is a very symbolic song …
