Bono and The Edge appeared on BBC’s Friday Night with Jonathan Ross (recorded on Thursday) where they were confronted with old footage of them appearing on RTE television performing “Street Missions” and tried to answer the question why so many people are annoyed by them and Bono in particular. “I can be pretty annoying,” said Bono, and suggested “There’s an ecstatic quality to our music, and it can annoy people.”

I call BS!!!
They did not perform that song in that way live…
it was a remix live version of that song…
Are we really at the time where U2 have to fake how they sound in concert?….
come on guys you sound great in concert… but not like do on the cd…
this is like the extended Blackberry comercial version…
I hate it when bands do the Lip sinc garbage and pass it off as live….
Do no turn into Queen…

Couldn’t agree more smaster. It was a disgrace, the lads should be ashamed – taking a cd track and mixing in a screaming crowd. Just another example that the U2 media machine has grown bigger than the band and is going off the rails.

by the way people relax, and they performed the song twice…remember.

The clip on the Ross show was the video for ‘Crazy’, which will premier on some video game channel? The video was shot in Milan, when they played ‘Crazy’ a second time during the encore. U2 isn’t lip-syncing at their shows. Settle down.

I didn’t claim they were lip syncing at the shows…
simply that Crazy did not go down like it showed in the video…
If they were shooting a video for Crazy they should have claimed it as a video shoot…
not “here’s some footage from Barcelona”
I love these guys, but I’m going to call BS when I see it.
It should have been tagged as “here is our new video that we shot footage for in Barcelona”.
That’s all.
Let’s keep it honest.

Gotcha, Smaster. I understand your point!

What a great interview! Funny, insightful, honest…
18+ minutes of really great stuff.
Don’t let an awkward intro by the host distract you from the fact that this is one of (if not the) greatest live bands of all time. Bono and the Edge could have corrected him, but… who cares? It’s a promo clip on an interview show… Relax!
