Here are two videos we shot last night. We’re not giving up the day job yet.

Gelsenkirchen was an odd gig, with ups and downs for the band. The audience was in a great mood, enjoying themselves with beach balls and the wave before the show and singing along to Snow Patrol’s well received set. The band however, started a little later than listed on their running order and something seemed off from the start. Bono asked The Edge how he was doing before a single note was played and immediately a series of bum notes followed. It was hard to tell from a distance, but we though The Edge looked a little tense. Perhaps put off a little, Bono messed up the lyrics to a number of songs and also struggled with his German phrases. He did manage to add snippets of Herbert Gronemeyer’s ‘Mensch’ to both Beautiful Day and One. When they were playing Stuck in a Moment The Edge was struggling with the song a bit. Things came to a head during Vertigo when the guitarist’s amp blew, according to Bono, and they had to start the song all over. Fortunately, they saw the funny side of things and laughed it off. Things picked up from there and they really went for it, although we thought Moment of Surrender didn’t reach the level of intensity shown at other shows. The screen was having trouble of its own, as it did not retract after City of Blinding Lights and only returned to its shortest state halfway through Sunday Bloody Sunday.
