Boy falls from the sky (live) – lyrics

Transcript of the lyrics of “Boy falls from the sky” as sung live in Coimbra on October 3rd, 2010.

You can change your mind
But you cannot change your heart
It’s a compass and a map
The key to the chart
I’d be myself
If I knew who I’d become
You fly too high
And get too close to the sun
See how the boy falls from the sky
Oh Oh Oh
Oh Oh Oh
Not every wanderer
Is lost or far from home
I didn’t have to move so far
To find myself alone
Save, you save yourself
Can’t even get that right
I used to use a single thread to cross the sky
And now the eye of the needle is a heart denied
See how the boy falls from the sky
The city conducts a symphony
The search through shit for melody
A single scrap of dignity
In the junkyard of humanity
On the burning rubble and the sulphur sky
We look for clues yeah, you and I
Although the screams and the sirens wail
[..?] is up for sale
The subway screech soars down the drain
The thunder when there is no rain
So listen hard, listen again
To your own voice and the rain comes back
You know exactly what to do
The you and me, the we and you
Together you start the self esteem
And when you do
And when you do
And you believe

Trailer: U2 360° At The Rose Bowl DVD

U2.com has released details on their upcoming ‘At the Rose Bowl’ DVD, directed by – the lovely – Tom Krueger.
Shot entirely in HD, the concert was filmed with no less than 27 cameras. They’re competing with fan shot compilation boots, you know!
The DVD will be available in four formats: single DVD, 2-DVD Super Deluxe set, Deluxe 2-DVD set and it’s the first U2 concert available in Blu-ray. The deluxe formats and the Blu-ray will feature a new documentary called Squaring the Circle: Creating U2360° with new interviews from U2, Paul McGuinness and the team behind the touring production. You can check out the different formats on the U2.com store. The ‘2 DVD Super Deluxe Box Setbox’ is listed at $39.95 although Amazon.co.uk still has it up as £113.99 – perhaps the Brits will get a magical pony with it?
If you want to have the song ‘Breathe’ (one of the best songs in the set, if you ask me) don’t get the single DVD version. It’s not on it. Because… well, just because.

U2 auction – Do you take cash for that?

{ Lot #116 U2 Stylist’s Measurement Book }
Former U2 stylist Lola Cashman is putting some U2 items up for auction on the music collectibles and memorabilia site gottahaverockandroll.com. U2 sued Cashman in 2006, claiming she acquired some items – including the infamous Stetson hat – without the band’s permission.
The auction includes Bono’s rosary beads, a bible signed by Larry Mullen (‘with real love’) as well as the drummer’s signed, worn sneakers. (Eeew.) Most fun though is the inclusion of the stylist’s ‘measurement’ book, which is sure to raise a smile as well as a few bucks ($800). You can flip through some of the pages on the auction site.
Now what we’d like to know is… who would pay 1,200 dollars for a signed, crumpled copy of Rolling Stone magazine?

Details of U2 and Anton Corbijn’s film “Linear” revealed

U2 has released details on Anton Corbijn’s film Linear, starring French actor Said Taghmaoui (Three Kings, Lost), which accompanies the album No Line on the Horizon. Linear’s credits are available from nolineonthehorizon.com and include the running order of the songs as featured in the film.

01. UNKNOWN CALLER
02. BREATHE
03. WINTER
04. WHITE AS SNOW
05. NO LINE ON THE HORIZON
06. FEZ-Being Born
07. MAGNIFICENT
08. STAND UP COMEDY
09. GET ON YOUR BOOTS
10. MOMENT OF SURRENDER
11. CEDARS OF LEBANON

Corbijn reveals:

“As U2 never do anything in half measures, the record that emerged from the studio in late December 2008 was a very different one than the one I’d made images for. Not only had the running order changed, now there were completely new songs on the record while another song had gone, new lyrics without the characters had emerged, and different sounds dominated the songs I had worked on. Disaster!”

If you buy the hardback book box format, magazine format or digipack format of No Line On The Horizon, you will be able to access and download the film from the website by entering your details, and unlocking the download by entering the cd into your computer’s dvd/cd-drive.

Stills from the movie can be found on suckingrockandroll.com.

Walmart posts previews of U2’s No Line on the Horizon

We got the heads up from U2tour.de via Twitter: Walmart online has posted previews of all the tracks on No Line on the Horizon.

Update 02/08: Walmart has taken down all the previews, except ‘Boots’.

It’s always hard to tell from random 30-second clips, but early favourites for me are: the title track, Moment of Surrender, Cedars of Lebanon and Fez-Being Born. YMMV.
